Open Position at the Astronomical Institute of the University of Bern (1 Post-Doc + 1 PhD candidate)

The complete position descriptions are available at

Tasks for the Post-Doc Position:

The focus will be on the support of the research activities related to
lunar gravity field recovery using GRAIL data and the corresponding
developments in the Bernese GNSS Software package.

Apart from technical work (e.g., implementation of the processing
capability of tracking data of the Deep Space Network DSN) also
scientific work is planned. The details will be defined together with
the candidate from a wide spectrum of tasks in the field of DSN data
analysis.

Tasks for the PhD-Candidate:
The focus will be on lunar gravity field recovery using GRAIL data and
the corresponding developments in the Bernese GNSS Software package.

The work should focus on science issues, but includes, as well,
technical issues (e.g., adapting the Bernese GNSS Software for GRAIL
data processing). The tasks include precise orbit determination of the
two GRAIL satellites from position- and K-Band-measurements and the
determination of lunar gravity fields.
