{"id":714,"date":"2013-03-26T15:42:34","date_gmt":"2013-03-26T15:42:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/intergeo.webs.upv.es\/wordpress\/?p=714"},"modified":"2014-02-04T16:28:05","modified_gmt":"2014-02-04T16:28:05","slug":"united-nations-internship-programme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/intergeo.webs.upv.es\/wordpress\/index.php\/united-nations-internship-programme\/","title":{"rendered":"United Nations Internship Programme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The United Nations provides<\/strong> opportunities for students enrolled in a\u00a0graduate programme to undertake an internship at its Headquarters in New\u00a0York, Geneva, Vienna, Nairobi, Addis Ababa, Bangkok,\u00a0Beirut,Santiago,Arusha and The Hague.<\/p>\n<p>Eligible candidates interested in doing an <strong>internship at the United\u00a0Nations Headquarters in New York<\/strong> or <!--more-->any of the mentioned countries can\u00a0apply.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/intergeo.webs.upv.es\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/unlogo_text.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-720\" alt=\"unlogo_text\" src=\"https:\/\/intergeo.webs.upv.es\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/unlogo_text.jpg\" width=\"87\" height=\"67\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The objective of the Internship Programme is threefold:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To provide a framework by which graduate and under graduate students from\u00a0diverse academic backgrounds may be assigned to United Nations Offices\u00a0where their educational experience can be enhanced through practical work\u00a0assignments.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0To expose them to the work of the United Nations.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0To provide UN offices with the assistance of highly qualified students\u00a0specialized in various professional fields.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The United Nations Headquarters Internship Programme is offered on atwo-month basis three times a year:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>.January to March (Spring Session)<\/li>\n<li>.June to August (Summer Session)<\/li>\n<li>.October to December (Fall Session)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>To qualify for the United Nations Headquarters Internship Programme, the\u00a0following conditions must be met:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>1. Applicants must be enrolled in a degree programme in a graduate school\u00a0(second university degree or higher) at the time of application and during\u00a0the internship; or<\/p>\n<p>2. Applicants pursuing their studies in countries where higher education\u00a0is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages must have completed\u00a0at least four years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent\u00a0institution towards the completion of a degree.<\/p>\n<p>3. Development-related fields such as economics, international relations,\u00a0anthropology, sociology, public or business administration, or\u00a0environmental studies. Other fields of study may be considered depending\u00a0on the type of assignment;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Any work produced by interns during their internship within the framework\u00a0of the duties assigned to them should be used for academic purposes<\/p>\n<p>exclusively. All economic and moral rights (copyright) pertaining to such\u00a0work will remain the exclusive property of the United Nations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Interested undergraduate or graduate students should write via EMAIL ONLY\u00a0to the :<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ad Hoc Internship Coordinator,<\/p>\n<p>Human Resources Operations Section,<\/p>\n<p>Human Resources Management Service,<\/p>\n<p>United Nations Office<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>enclosing:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Applications (in English) should include the following:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>a) A covering letter stating the grounds for their application;<\/p>\n<p>b) Recent curriculum vitae (CV);<\/p>\n<p>c) Copies of their university degrees or a list of courses attended or\u00a0attending;<\/p>\n<p>d) Abstracts of academic papers they have written if any.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>All applicants must be currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate\u00a0programs.
