This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious engineering graduate to fast-track their career development as a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Associate in GNSS Algorithm Engineering.  VERIPOS provides precise navigation and positioning solutions globally, through the innovative application of technology.

This KTP project with the University of Nottingham, Nottingham Geospatial Institute, aims to further develop high accuracy satellite-based positioning for commercial applications. The position will involve assessment of GALILEO and BEIDOU capabilities, studies into observation quality and biases, observation models for multi-constellation and multi-frequency positioning, implementation and validation of algorithms in MATLAB, evaluation and implementation of multi-service constellation.

The successful candidate will be based at VERIPOS in Norwich but will spend the first three months at their Nottingham office (TERRASTAR Ltd).  You must be prepared to travel within the UK since you will also spend some time at the VERIPOS Aberdeen office as well as the Nottingham Geospatial Institute. Some overseas travel may also be required.

This is an exciting opportunity for a graduate to work in a real world commercial environment, with the benefit of access to academic research, supervision, support and advice. A comprehensive, tailored training and development package will help to meet the professional demands of the project and your personal aspirations.

Candidates for this post should have:

  • A Masters or equivalent in Geospatial Engineering, Land and Hydrographic, Geodesy Civil Engineering, Surveying or a related science or engineering discipline.  A PhD or equivalent in Surveying, Navigation, Geodesy, Computer Science or relevant Engineering discipline would be an advantage
  • Relevant experience and understanding of surveying navigation satellite positioning
  • Software and programming skills
  • Experience of using MATLAB
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and work to tight deadlines
  • Self-motivation and energy
  • Good project management skills

Ph.D. position available in geospatial patternand trend detection – University of Waterloo, Canada

Position Description:
A 3-year funded Ph.D. position is available at the University of Waterloo, Canada to conduct research into novel statistical and computational methods for geospatial pattern and trend detection in the context of interdisciplinary research on landscape and climate change. This research is motivated by the need to account for the multiplicity of tests in the application of large numbers of spatially replicated hypothesis tests to detect significant patterns and trends in multitemporal remote sensing data or climate model outputs. PhD position: Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Mapping of Intercropping Systems

Project Description:

Remote sensing technologies have been extensively used in agricultural planning and management. Nevertheless, the technologies are not fully capable in various scenarios. In the context of a tropical country like Malaysia, cloud-cover prevents satellite-based optical sensors from capturing viable data in a timely fashion, whereas airborne-based approaches, as on-demand acquisition, can be very costly.
